Myrciaria dubia, commonly known as Camu Camu Powder Extract, is a small bushy riverside tree native to the Amazon rainforest in Peru and Brazil. It produces a red to purple cherry-like fruit and is closely related to jaboticaba and guavaberry.
Camu Camu Powder Extract is prized for its exceptionally high vitamin C content, reaching approximately 2–3% of its fresh weight, which has positioned it strongly in international markets.
Camu Camu grows in swampy or flooded areas of the Amazon rainforest across Peru, Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia. The fruit and leaves are traditionally used for medicinal purposes.
Camu Camu is used for viral infections such as herpes, cold sores, shingles and the common cold. It is also used for eye conditions including cataracts and glaucoma, as well as asthma, atherosclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, gingivitis, headaches and osteoarthritis.
Some people use Camu Camu to increase energy, maintain healthy gums, eyes and skin, and as an antioxidant and immune system stimulant.

Camu Camu is best known for its extraordinarily high vitamin C content. Natural vitamin C acts as a powerful antioxidant, helping prevent free radical damage, supporting immune function, and reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease.
The camu berry can contain up to 50,000 ppm of vitamin C, providing approximately 2 g of vitamin C per 100 g of fruit. This is up to 50 times more vitamin C than an orange on a weight-for-weight basis.
