Pfaffia Paniculata
The pfaffia (suma powder) is a shrub that can reach up to two meters in height and is characterized by rapid growth. It has long, little lignified branches and an intense flowering of small, slightly yellowish white flowers. Its root, which is the medicinal portion, is pivoting, reaching thirty to forty centimeters in length. If the soil is more sandy, which is more suitable for this plant, its root will be unique and more valued.
Pfaffia is an excellent source of hormones. It is a plant little studied fora, where it is used em caso de male sterility, similar to Panax ginseng, which is well known.
Indications:
Anti-toxic, analgesic, physical and mental energetic, diabetes, jaundice, anemia, arthritis, chronic fatigue, hypertension, impotence, arteriosclerosis, headache of digestive origin, healing, cholesterol, strengthens the heart, helps fight mild depression, weakness, sexual stimulant, Parkinson’s disease, stress, potentiation of insulin action, circulation problems, immune system, rejuvenation, rheumatism, tranquilizer, tremors, premature aging, menopause and activates the formation of blood cells, therefore it is useful to increase the organic defense and help in the cure of anemia due to lack of iron, if this is caused by low cellularity.
Constituents
Vitamins A, B2, B3, B12, C, D, E, F, pfaphic acid, phosphosides, stigmasterol (hormone), sitosterol (another hormone), allantoin (good wound healing), phosphorus, calcium, potassium, amino acids, mucilage and saponins (six were discovered by Kamadawa at the Hokuriku University School of Pharmacy, Japan).
Recent research verifies that pfafic acid acts by inhibiting the growth of tumors, which can lead to its use in cancers.
Usage Modes:
Anti-fatigue:
Put a dessert spoon of root powder in a cup and add boiling water. Simmer for ten minutes, wait to cool a little and strain. Drink one cup on an empty stomach in the morning and another in the evening.
Anti-fatigue and anti-anemic:
Put two tablespoons of powder in a bottle of dry white wine. Let macerate for a week, shaking the bottle from time to time, and strain. Take a cup two to three times a day, before main meals.
Tonic:
In a cup, put a dessert spoon of Pfaffia root powder and one of Guarana powder, adding boiling water. Leave for ten minutes and drink while still warm. Have a cup after breakfast and another in the afternoon.
Headache, stress:
A tablespoon of powder should be placed in a cup of 60% grain alcohol. Leaving everything in maceration for ten days, strain through a cloth, squeezing the contents well. Take ten to fifteen drops or a teaspoon in a little water, twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening).
